The client wanted a soft feeling to the image, but a rough feeling concerning the models emotion – no smiles, that’s probably too 80′s, when you compare hair style photography from now and then.
I used the umbrellas to shape the light and shadows in the back. The spills from the umbrellas right at their tips made for an interesting, not too specific shape, while the light through / reflecting from them was still giving some detail to the models hair and a very subtle rim light .
Strobist: SB-600 through umbrella high, 3 o’clock, SB-28 through and spilling by umbrella 9 o’clock, SB-24 in and spilling by silver umbrella 2 o’clock, silver reflector under model
Photoshop: (LAB) Curves, Skin and color retouching, exposure, blacks, vibrance and saturation etc…
