Non-Existent – 無いです

Maybe he is homeless, a poor guy, a drunkard, very sleepy or lost in general. But something is missing for this guy who I spotted in the shopping area of Asakusa, Tokyo, in the evening after the shops closed. A handwritten sticker on one of the shops says: “無いです” which means “to not be” or could be translated to “non-existent” / “not here”.

In the end – what is left?

After 5:30 p.m. or so, Asakusa Temple in Tokyo is closing up, all the street vendors and shops stop service and there are only warmly colored lanterns and street lights and a well-lit temple to see. Tourists go for a drink, something to eat or their hotel. But what if you are not one of them and there is no place left to go?
